The north coast of the island is rugged and abrupt, but offers sensational alternatives for the adventurous. “Rojas” in the municipality of El Sauzal is worth a visit. On the way down, don’t be deterred by the winding road as the views and the walk along the coast when you’re down are well worth it. Bring a picnic as there are places to rest and even swim, as on calm days you can swim in one of the many bays / water pools.
